New Faces on the BCI/Irrigo Team

There have been some changes in the Irrigo office recently, we farewell Belinda and Claudia from the environmental team and thank them for the support they have provided BCI shareholders. We would like to welcome Nick, Nick and Sarah to the team and look forward to introducing you to BCI’s shareholders as the season progresses. Nick Hand and Sarah Hayman are both Environmental Advisors and will be working with Eva and Nicole to support our shareholders in continuing to raise the bar with their environmental performance on farm.  

Nick and his Russian partner have recently returned from two years living and studying in China.  Before that he studied a Bachelor of Soil Science at Lincoln and spent three years with Ravensdown.  With a particular understanding of the policy background to the environmental work being done on farm, Nick is excited about getting to know farmers and working with them in this space.  He is a keen runner and is looking forward to spending his free time exploring the great trails in the Ashburton area, and getting in a bit of fishing and diving too. 

Sarah is Ashburton born and bred, having grown up on a sheep, beef and cropping farm at Ealing.  After studying Science at Canterbury University, with post grad in Water Resource Management, she spent three years working for Hydroservices.   She lives with her partner on a dairy farm outside Ashburton, and in her spare time enjoys hockey and water sports.  Sarah is really looking forward to getting to know shareholders and working with them to achieve GMP, with a focus on Irrigation Scheduling.  

Nick Houghton is Irrigo’s Infrastructure Manager and currently splits him time between BCI and MHV.  Nick will work closely with the entire BCI team to ensure water is available when and where required and will also be working on future developments and strategies.
Nick completed a Bachelor of Engineering at Canterbury University before working his way around the world on oil rigs.  Returning home to NZ in 2009, he became involved in the irrigation industry, initially spending time in the design and delivery of on-farm irrigation infrastructure before becoming involved in the irrigation schemes that feed them.  Nick has spent the last 9 years focusing on the irrigation scheme development, design and delivery which included BCI stage 1, 2 and some of the lager extensions.
Coming from a rural background (dairy and beef) in the central North Island, Nick understands both scheme and shareholder values and is excited to link these two passions together.  Nick currently lives in Christchurch with wife Charlotte and their 2 year old Finnegan.
