Barrhill-Chertsey Irrigation consent CRC147697 permits nitrogen discharges from all farmers within the scheme. The first annual report on our progress for the 2014-15 season showed BCI irrigated 45% of their permitted area and is discharging approximately 42% of their permitted nitrogen loss allocation, indicating most farms are operating at a good or high level of practice.
All existing shareholders now have a Land and Water Regional Plan Schedule 7 compliant Farm Environment Plan and new shareholders will have one in place prior to the release of scheme water.
All consent conditions have been graded full compliant by Environment Canterbury.
